As soon as we entered Justine’s on Hudson, we were struck by its warmth and intimacy. The soft lighting and welcoming atmosphere made us feel immediately at ease.

Brought to life by New York-based Mira Projects, the decor is a perfect blend of modern and classic, featuring a sturdy walnut bar and brass foot-rail reminiscent of old-school bistros in Europe.

Velvet banquettes and a Murano chandelier from the 70s add sophistication, while stackable Japanese water cups paired with Austrian-made wine glasses imbue personality and irreverence.

One of the first things that caught our eyes was the impressive wine list, curated by the father-daughter duo of Justine and Neal Rosenthal. With over 50 limited quantity estate bottles, as well as a rotating ‘By The Glass’ list, there is truly something for everyone.

The 30-seat intimate wine bistro is the brainchild of Justine Rosenthal, daughter of renowned wine importer Neal Rosenthal. The restaurant is a collaboration between the generations, with Justine’s vision and her father’s wine expertise coming together to create a unique dining experience.

The wine menu is designed to teach and inspire, and the staff are happy to help you find the perfect pairing for your meal. And if you’re lucky, you may even get the chance to try a rare wine from Neal’s personal cellar.

With a playlist that builds from John Coltraine to John Lee Hooker, this intimate restaurant promises to be a unique and unforgettable dining experience.

But let’s talk about the food, because that’s what really blew us away!

Chef Jeanne Jordan’s menu is a perfect reflection of the restaurant’s philosophy – familiar flavors presented in unexpected ways. Her dishes are a thoughtful blend of French-leaning classics and Filipino-inspired novelties, all made with carefully sourced ingredients.

Every dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented.

One standout dish was the Seabass Carpaccio, an unexpected take on a beloved Filipino dish called Kilawan. Made with seagrapes, coconut, chilies, and turmeric, it was a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and spicy flavors.

Another favorite was the Beef Tartare, which had a reinvented spin on a classic. The addition of peanut pistour, lemon, and carta di musica elevated the dish to a whole new level.

And let’s not forget about dessert! The Pistachio Cake, made with rhubarb and salted egg yolk ice cream, was the perfect way to end the meal. It was light, refreshing, and just the right amount of sweetness.

  • Bea Capitelli, a core pasta dish with a twist utilizing bottarga, bacon & parm ($27)
  • Roasted Golden Chicken, a sentimental & comforting classic inspired by a dish Chef Jordan’s mother made for her as a child, that she now makes for her own children, featuring pomme puree, truffles & black garlic ($32)
  • Pistachio Cake, made with rhubarb & salted egg yolk ice cream ($15)

The prices at Justine’s On Hudson are on par with other high-end wine bars and bistros in the West Village. Guests can expect to pay around $60-$80 per person for a full meal and wine experience.

Overall, our experience at Justine’s on Hudson was truly unforgettable. The atmosphere, the wine, and the food all came together to create a perfect dining experience.
